DAY 13 - 1/23/26
Devotional: Identity
We Are Temples of the Holy Spirit
Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies and with your spirits, which belong to God.”
Today we remember that, as believers, our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. This means that God’s presence dwells within us. It is a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. Every day, we must decide whom we allow to enter our temple.
Who lives within you? This is a constant challenge: we can allow the Holy Spirit to guide and transform us, or we can open the door to negative influences. When we allow Jesus to work in our lives, He helps us manage our temper and harmful habits. In Titus 1:8, we are reminded to die to the flesh and live according to God’s will.
Accepting the Holy Spirit in our lives also means maturing in the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23). This is essential, because our actions and attitudes should reflect God’s glory within our temple. We are not merely structures with walls; we are living beings where God desires to dwell and manifest His glory.
Pride and humanism offend God and can cause His presence to withdraw from us. In this season, the world offers many temptations to exchange our loyalty to God for fame and wealth. Many have traded their eternal purpose for what is temporary. Do not let your gift or talent become a bargaining item in the marketplace of the world.
Remember that the genetic makeup of our living temple comes from the principles and values God wants to plant in us. He desires our heart, mind, and spirit to be places where His glory can flourish. If you desire to be used by God, if you long to receive a gift of the Holy Spirit or to be a tool to shame Satan, begin by allowing the Holy Spirit to fully dwell within you.
Reflection:
Who resides in the temple of your life today? Allow the Holy Spirit to take control and transform your heart.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for dwelling in me. Help me live in a way that glorifies Your name. I want to be a pure and useful temple for You. Give me the strength to reject the world’s offers and focus on Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action:
Today, choose one area of your life where you need to allow the Holy Spirit to bring transformation. Reflect on how you can live authentically as the temple you are, and take one action that honors God in that area.
