1/17/26 - DAY 7

Knowing Jesus Christ, the Son of God

Matthew 16:15–16 (NIV)

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

In these days of fasting, let us not seek only the Father let us go deeper with Jesus, the Son of God. Who He is lies at the center of everything we believe.

When Jesus is born into this world, everything changes. His birth is not ordinary: the Holy Spirit intervenes, and God the Father shows how much He values humanity. Through Jesus, we see every part of God reflected on earth, like a living mirror. The Gospels tell us His story the mature Son, the firstborn, who walks with purpose, without fear or doubt, and in holiness.

Jesus was not concerned about the suffering that awaited Him. He did not fear the cross, the crown of thorns, or the spear. His focus was on reaching the end, because He knew His destiny: to save us and open the way to the Father. He is the bridge the true Way. God does not want us to stop at salvation through Jesus; He wants to lead us into fullness with the Father. And the Holy Spirit does the work: He leads us to Jesus so that He may lead us to the heart of the Father.

Now, by that same Spirit, we are a new creation. We are no longer strangers we are children of God, co-heirs with Christ. Jesus is no longer only the one and only Son; He is the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. It does not matter whether you are Jew or Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised what matters is being renewed in Him. Giving of ourselves our time, love, and faith is not a burden; it is the challenge and the promise of living out His identity. During this fast, ask yourself as Peter did: “Who is Jesus to me?” Your answer sets you free, makes you family, and makes you new.

Reflect on these truths about Jesus, asking the Spirit to make them part of your day:

  • John 14:9“Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.”

  • John 14:6“I am the way and the truth and the life.”

  • Hebrews 12:2“Fixing our eyes on Jesus… who for the joy set before him endured the cross.”

  • Romans 8:17“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.”

Action of the Day

Today, sit in a quiet place and answer Jesus’ question out loud: “Who am I to you?” Write a simple sentence, like Peter did: “You are my Savior, my Way.” Spend 10 minutes in prayer, thanking Him for His identity at work in you, and ask the Spirit to show you one way to give today an act of love that reflects who Jesus is. Share that sentence with a fellow believer so that this confession may grow stronger in all of you.
